This weekend
I volunteered at the state speech event at Kennedy. I was in the auditorium and
working with the one act performances. These shows are plays in one act and the goal
is to tell a story in that one act. If they were very good your group would get
to go all-state on February 16 they will
perform for the final time if they past this weekend.
Speech is a very interesting thing because you
just don’t make speeches. There is along with one act, mime, choral reading and
many others that are listed at this link http://lchs.lewiscentral.org/departments/fine_arts/speech/large_group_speech_categories/
. These categories showcase all kinds of
acting and are great to see.
The only thing about
it is that speech performs only really have three completions. First one is
districts and if you don’t pass the judges standers, you don’t get to go onto
state. That isn’t really a challenge if you practice hard and work hard. The next
completion is State and after state is All-State. All-State is this month on
the 16th.
Here at Kennedy our groups improve team has won at All-State
speech for the past three years for sure. Speech is one of those things which I find to
be a great thing to watch so if you’re thinking about going to watch All-State
speech this year, you should go.
