When in Rome

The next place in Italy we will go to is Rome. It is said “when in Rome do as the romans do”. I hope to follow this when I plan my trip there. Rome is one of the oldest cites we have, being established in around 625 to 753 B.C. Rome is also home to the smallest country in the world Vatican City, Which is where the top part of the Catholic Church resides. We will look at the Vatican while in Rome.

Getting  around Rome to see thing is going to be pretty easy once you get into the city. If you need to jump sides of the city I would take the Metro to save time and it will save money more than a cab. (information found http://www.rome.info/transportation/)

Things to see in Rome would be Coliseum, Roman Forum, and The Pantheon. The Coliseum was built from 72-80 AD. It is famous for housing the battles of the Roman gladiators. The rate to get in for an American citizen is 15.50 euro. The Roman Forum is in the heart of what use to be ancient Rome. This is the place where most public speaking took place. This one doesn’t cost a thing to see.  The Pantheon is a the final site to see in Rome that has little to do with art. It was built around 118 – 125 A.D. all that is truly known about this place is that is to worship the pagan gods of Rome.  (Found at http://www.rome.info/sights/)

Vatican City is the central place of Catholic religion. So if you are Catholic it’s a must see but if you aren’t it still is, because the Vatican has amazing things to see and reflect upon. The Vatican became its own state in 1929 with the Signing of the Lateran Treaty. The Vatican has 11 museums, the number one thing to see Michelangelo’s Sistine chapel and Vatican Gardens which is a collocation of large and small gardens.    Any of the 11 museums in the Vatican will cost you €18.  (info founded at http://www.rome.info/museums/vatican/ )

The mystery of masks

Masks, offer a new mystery that you don't get much anywhere else. They are found around the word in religions, theaters or just on one day a year in October.   Masks have been found all over the world from the Chinese who used them to perform in theater or to prevent diseases. While in England they wore them sole for theater or for pagan rituals.  (http://www.ehow.com/about_5398612_history-cultural-masks.html

Venice, Italy

Venice I want to do the things to see and place to eat. Now Venice’s most famous landmark is the canals of Venice, which are all over Venice because it is surrounded by water. Ca’Maccana is a mask shop which is right on a canal. I picked this place because a Italian mask looks so cool. They come in all shapes colors and ideas.   The mask would be great if you are in town for Venetian festival this is the place to go.  Another place to see would be the Teatro La Fenice, it and opera house and is one of the more famous ones of Italy. The Teatro La Fenice, has been burn down twice and restored both times.  If you love art in the form of statues I would say to go to the Santa Maria della Salute. It was designed by Baldassare longhena in 1631-83. The place has 125 statues and looks splined ( all landmarks where found at http://www.tripadvisor.com/Attraction_Review-g187870-d196474-Reviews-Santa_Maria_della_Salute-Venice_Veneto.html )

Food to eat in Venice will be Fish because they are by the sea. So the Al Muro fish market should be a big stop. It’s on a Saturday, and the food will be on the lower side of budget for food. You can get a lot of food for your Euro at this event.  Da Luca e Fred would be my next pick for its good pasta.  The Al Nono Risorto can be expensive in the food department but its pizzas are great and are cheap. They pile on fresh ingredients and it looks to die for. (http://www.guardian.co.uk/travel/2009/jan/21/cheap-restaurants-venice-food-italy0 )

If I ever get on to Italy, I would love to see Venice. The place is so up there on places to see because of the feeling of romance and magic in the city.  Just look at the amazing the mask place I mentioned earlier, it would be a place I would love to see because masks amaze me. They just speak of mystery and of unknown dances and people. To follow this I would like to do one just on masks.

Florence, Italy

Florence, Italy, the place where according to my Ap Euoprean history teacher, this is the place where the Renniances started. This is a city of old culture, with art and artcutucre by both Brunellischi and Michekango, just walking the streets will feel like you have escaped to another time. ( ideas based on reading http://www.visitflorence.com/florence-museums/)

Two hotels that looked amazing to stay at were the Relais Santa Croce by Baglioni Hotels and Grand Hotel Villa Cora (both found at Booking.com). the Grand Hotel Villa Cora is a 19th century building one mile from the center of Florence. The Grand Hotel Villa includes 46 rooms. While the Relais Santa Croce is a 18th century building, the building has 24 rooms and is a chain. It is located between Santa Croce Basilica and the cathedral.

Places to eat are very important so i found three great places to eat for lunch, dinner, and desert. we will start with lunch because it’s one of my favorite meals of the day. i would eat at Acqua al 2. Acqua is found at Via della Vigna Vecchia 40r, Florence, the cruise is very good and has a great train of follows who go there for the sampling of many foods. (to see more click here http://travel.nytimes.com/travel/guides/europe/italy/tuscany-and-umbria/florence/53841/acqua-al-2/restaurant-detail.html) Now for dinner i would say pizza is always a good choice so i would try Il Pizzaiuolo, it has a huge waiting list so get resvations early but the pizza is said to be amazing. For desert you got to have gelato a desert invented in Italy, to buy it i would say go to Badiani, this place even has its own local lore on how they got there recipes. (http://travel.nytimes.com/travel/guides/europe/italy/tuscany-and-umbria/florence/62828/badiani/restaurant-detail.html)

Florence was one of the major Italian city-states back during the Italian Renascence. To see this all you have to do is look at the city itself. Two things to see in Florence would be Michelangelo marble David and Cathedral of Santa Maria del Fior, the dome of this cathedral was done by Brunelleschi is a architectural master piece.
