homecoming prank

I think that as teenagers we can have some very immature moments and they can be hurtful. This is one of them. When I read this story on a girl whole was it appeared prank notated to be homecoming queen I was crushed. Why would you do that to another person?
But Whitney didn’t let it get to her that much. After considering suicide she instead turned the tables, and took her place as one of the homecoming court. She cre4ated a Facebook page to help her prevent this from happening to other people and the community gave back to her by providing a dress and haircut and styling.

Music can speak louder than words

Music it’s a way of life, It can begin where words fail, it can tell stories that just need to be told with more emotion.  It is a thing that most people take for granted with their iPods today. You used to have to go to a concert hall or play an instrument just to hear good music.
You can’t truly define what music is but it will bring people together.  On this web site I found a lot of surveys on how music is listened to and what people thought about it. I think these graphs all show we have opinions about music not matter how old we are. http://www.smartgirl.org/reports/2226868.html
Music like books comes in many forms, from hard rock to soft classical music. It can be made to fit any kind of person that’s one for the reason it’s so special. Another is that you don’t need to read or understand the words you can just listen to the notes of the music. This is why music is so special, it can define a generation. If you look at your parents what kind of music do they love to listen to? Do they love the 70’s the 80’s or are they pretty okay with the music of today?
When you look at a person’s song choice it can tell a lot about them. Like if they love to hear a hard drum, or if they are open minded and will listen to almost anything.  It can tell you if in their past they loved someone but they left them for someone else.  If you were to look at my iPod you would find a se4lcetion of odds and ends of music. I have a lot of soundtracks of musicals, but I also have a lot of Taylor Swift who is my favorite artists. If you were to look at all my sounds I do love that slow ballad feel of today’s contrary music.  You can gain all that from my iPod song choice not even from the beat of those songs or the lyric’s. That is the power of music.

Why do we have homecoming?

I found this when I Goggled what is homecoming

  home·com·ing/ˈhōmˌkəmiNG/

Noun:
  1. An instance of returning home.
  2. A high school, college, or university game, dance, or other event to which alumni are invited.”
This isn’t what homecoming his to me. Homecoming to me is a week event with a lot of planning and you feel a little stressed the night of the dance.
Homecoming was last night for me and it was a lot of fun. I got to dress up in a pretty cute dress wear heels, and go dancing. I saw my friends and we a looked great. That’s one of the best parts about the dance. Now this week I spent the whole having fun dressing up and doing different themes to show spirit for our school.
How did this all get started and why do we do all the things we do now. Like last night my grandmother stated that homecoming to her was just a dance in the gym after the football game.
What I found as I looked at some websites is that homecoming is a celebration of our school. Wither you go there or you are alumni.  I also found you don’t have to do it just for football. It can be for any sport you just have to plan it once a year.
Homecoming king and queen are also a big part. This year it felt better to vote because I knew some or even most of the candidates for the court. They are just two people in the senior class who are very involved and well known at school.
Well we won’t talk about homecoming till next year, now onto shopping for a dress for prom.

Schools in the home

This is not an okay that they are offered Plan B, without parents okay or even the parents could not even know. The idea that parents are okay with this is an idea; I can’t wrap my mind around it. Now do I think some kids didn’t show the permission slip to their parents? Yes I do.  This is a bad idea.
To think that some schools may be doing this bothers me. I would say this because it just makes having sex easier.  If you can get the birth control easier and with less people knowing you got it makes you feel better that no one would know.
It also can lead to a jump in STD rates. The more teens are having sex because they think they can’t get pregnant, the more STD will come.  The implant birth control is also available and it still doesn’t protect against that.
To be on birth control for that long and not have a medical reason like those that some teens have is just wrong. This also means that tax payers are paying for teens to have sex.

We are hungary

These two links show two total different sides of one story and that is that one policy fits all, we see this today all the time. Policy that were built to fit everyone and affect everyone but not always in the best way.  The “Healthy Hunger-Free kids Act of 2010” has impacted every kind of school not matter if you are in  high school or just starting out in  kindergarten.
This act was passed in 2010 but I’m now starting to notice the effects, my team mates and friends have started to bring home lunches because the food offered at school is not enough to fill them. We know that because I see it in school, kids buy two lunch.
Now there are people who are fat, but with this policy those people who are working out for 1-3 hours a day need a lot of calories. The “We are hungry” video says we need “2000-5000 calories” if you’re an active student. For some people lunch at school is there only meal a day, “750-850 calories” are not enough.  Being in high school upperclassmen can leave campus here, this means that some of my class mates are running to fast food joints everyday just to get a meal that feeds them.
The other video that I have is the one that Mrs. Obama filmed to tell us about this policy. I feel like this video was mostly propaganda on a policy that is making me starve if I don’t bring my own home lunch. She says that there will be new health food. I feel like all I got was the same canned food and a lot less protein.
With that a one policy fits all standard just doesn’t work, mostly because of the true fact that no two people are in the same exact boat on food.

ZOMBIES!!!!

http://www.amctv.com/shows/the-walking-dead

We are always hearing about it now, “The Zombie Apocalypse”. The idea that the world will end with the dead rising is a little crazy but we are hearing about all these books, movies and even one very popular TV show. The “Walking Dead” is a popular TV show on AMC is set in Georgia and it shows what happens after the first panic. Then we have built up to how are we going to move on with our lives and survive our new reality.

The main characters each try to understand what has happened and if they can move on from all the change. Like how you watched your sister get bitten and die right before you, or are you going to just give up and end it before you can meet an end you didn’t want.

Now the movies have taken different ways.  In “28 days later” the zombies are people with a virus that makes them very made the virus itself is called “rage”.( http://www.imdb.com/title/tt0289043/ )  Shaun of the Dead” on the other hand takes a funnier approach and makes the zombies their classic deadness but he tries to get his ex back. (http://www.imdb.com/title/tt0365748/  )

Zombie books have also started taking a spot light in the ring of books. “World War Z” by Max Brooks is set in now but says that there was a time when zombies were taking over the world and the testimonies of those who survived it.  We are now taking books of the past and mixing zombies in to them. In “Pride and Prejudice and Zombies” it’s a mash-up of the classic book and zombie fiction ideas.  One of my favorite zombie’s books would be the book “Married with Zombies” (http://www.jessepetersen.net/married-with-zombies/) it’s the idea that even with the zombie apocalypse going on you can still save your marriage. It is a series of books and they are great so I would recommend you read then.

A book that might be handy to have would be “The Zombie Survival Guide” by Max Brooks. This book is a book that when you read it you will start wondering if you might need to run to the store and buy some stuff to protect your home.

We may never have a real zombie apocalypse but you  can sure make a living making up what might happen.

A tiger jump

http://www.foxnews.com/us/2012/09/23/new-york-city-man-mauled-by-tiger-in-bronx-zoo-charged-with-trespassing/

This article is very interesting. You would think that they wouldn't charge him for trespassing on the grounds of the fact that he got attacked by the tiger. i believe that the tiger had every right to attack that man when he jumped into the enclosed area. This was of his own free will, he wasn't pushed, and I would say that this was a crazy idea.

One reason I think they should press charges against this guy is that it not only put his life in danger but that of the tiger. The tiger is only an animal so when it attacked him in its own home you would say it had a right to. This man was trespassing in the tiger’s home.

A thing that needs to be checked is this man’s mental health before they charge him. I don’t think a person who is thinking clearly, would never jump into a tiger pit.

I don’t think this was not just a non-suicide attempt I think if he had died this man would have been okay with it. This can be backed by the fact that when he was asked what he was doing he replied “I wanted to touch the tiger.”

When you think about it he showed the signs. The article says that he would comment on stuff about animals and how much he liked them.

red panda curse

Thttp://abcnews.go.com/US/newborn-panda-cub-dies-national-zoo/story?id=17302210#.UF9mto1lRSQ
http://animals.nationalgeographic.com/animals/mammals/red-panda/
I watched this clip on good morning America. I found it very interesting how the locals in china say that the red panda has "eyes that look at you" this is why they were sent over sea's and have become very endanger. The red panda is only found in some parts of china close to the foot hills of the Himalayan Mountains.
They are about the size of a "house cat." the red panda has a reddish fur and a long stripped tail that will make you think of the monkey from Madagascar that had a ring tail. They are a herbivore and live on a diet of greens, one of these is bamboo.
The other interesting part of the story was that they found a relative of the red panda in the hills, of Tennessee Blue Ridge Mountains. These ancestors were thought to be about the size of a mountain lion. How they got from North America, to Asia. This is a cool discovery because we can grow to understand where the red panda came from and how is shrunk to the size it is now.
The red panda is endangering due mostly to deforestation. I think this would be a great way to use the foreign language, I'm learning Chinese. I could travel to china and study the red panda and understand how we can help protect these amazing creatures.  To study them would help understand how to protect them in the wild. We can keep helping the ones in captive by giving them safe exhibits and health environments’ in zoos.
To protect them may be to encourage to donate or to just give your time to a volunteer event.

Lifeguard style

I first heard about this video on GMA yesterday morning and it got me thinking.  To that theses 14 lifeguards lost their job is a sad thing. The Supervisors fired these lifeguards on account of “miss use of public property” like their “uniforms”.

Now I’m a lifeguard like those 14 teenagers and I had to buy my own uniform before I started working, this means that it’s my property not my employers. The miss use of “public property” is also debatable. If these guards where guard people in the water while they shoot this video it wouldn’t be okay, but in the who tape you see no patrons of any kind. This leads me to believe they shoot this video after the patrons left.

If the lifeguards hadn’t been fired I feel this would have gone unnoticed by the press or anyone else. It’s on YouTube and there are a lot better videos out there, but because they fired them and made a big deal of it, this would not be happening at all.

I have thought of making YouTube “Call me maybe” parody’s with the swimmers and friends, but if I were to have that used against me in find a job or I could lose a collage scholarship over it. I don’t think I would do it because it could endanger my future.

A question to be asking you right now is this violating those 14 lifeguards first amendment? I think it is a little bit. Those lifeguards didn’t hurt anyone or break anything. They can put that on their for either their right to freedom of speech or it could be the press how you look at it. It may have a little bit of suggestive themes in the video at some point but it’s not that bad.

Swimmer troubles

I read this article in the daily press and it got me thinking. I’m a student athlete,  I train to get better and I work out. Now my sport isn’t volleyball or basketball, are any of those truly famous high school sports. I’m a swimmer. That means that every day I get up and I go to school at 5:20 am to practice in the morning, then after school its straight to the pool to practice 3 to 5:30, final I will get to go home and do homework sleep and do it all over again. This is what it takes to be one of the varsity swimmers on the team.

The article suggest that it would be okay to stop having two a days for their preseason camps in football, but swimmers still do this and we don’t stop after school starts.  This is what it take to be good at this sport. What it takes to be good at another sport is a lot different. You don’t see volleyball players running 3 miles to get better at their sport. What you see is them practice spikes. These sport don’t require two a day practice not even to truly get better.

It's Stolen and i Know it

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=bCnzi6L_BsM

To have watched this video i find that as I’m, military child, I can say I know what it means to have a soldier in the family. My dad has now severed over sees twice, been at three floods to help, and one tornado. He has been gone a lot. He also has come back all of those times, when he came back he got medals for serving.

Now you can go online and buy these same medals for about $1.25 to $7.50 for the metal ones. ( found prices at http://www.usamilitarymedals.com/army-army-full-size-skill-qualification-badges-c-2069_1201.html) But to do this you must think about why you are buying these medals. Now if you are dressing up for Halloween as a army person, and you want it to look good, and its only a costume then you can go right ahead. But if the drive is to start saying that you did what those medals mean, are you being honest or respect full to those men and women who severed for their county and sometimes gave their lives.

To go out and buy those medals is disrespectful to those men and women, the medals they are award have special meaning and levels of important to those guys. To wear those medals around if they do, they tell the story of that solider service to their county to other men and women in the service.

Now when you see a decorated army guy you must understand they did the time. If you buy a U.S. Army recruiter identification badge, you are saying you have meet criteria that allows you to recruit people to the service. (http://www.apd.army.mil/pdffiles/r600_8_22.pdf) To wear that means you have spent time going threw background checks and also getting approved by people.

To be in the service and get these awards is an honor and a career changer. When you start to go out and buy these medals, you are plagiarizing someone’s hard word and you are saying you did it.

Now what will happen is that when you wear those medals and say you were there, you will look like a great fool because if you don’t do any research you might buy a World War 2 award. Then what will happen is that soldiers will go out and make angry YouTube videos mocking you and they will because I know in someplace they have a lot of free time to make the videos good.

When in Rome

The next place in Italy we will go to is Rome. It is said “when in Rome do as the romans do”. I hope to follow this when I plan my trip there. Rome is one of the oldest cites we have, being established in around 625 to 753 B.C. Rome is also home to the smallest country in the world Vatican City, Which is where the top part of the Catholic Church resides. We will look at the Vatican while in Rome.

Getting  around Rome to see thing is going to be pretty easy once you get into the city. If you need to jump sides of the city I would take the Metro to save time and it will save money more than a cab. (information found http://www.rome.info/transportation/)

Things to see in Rome would be Coliseum, Roman Forum, and The Pantheon. The Coliseum was built from 72-80 AD. It is famous for housing the battles of the Roman gladiators. The rate to get in for an American citizen is 15.50 euro. The Roman Forum is in the heart of what use to be ancient Rome. This is the place where most public speaking took place. This one doesn’t cost a thing to see.  The Pantheon is a the final site to see in Rome that has little to do with art. It was built around 118 – 125 A.D. all that is truly known about this place is that is to worship the pagan gods of Rome.  (Found at http://www.rome.info/sights/)

Vatican City is the central place of Catholic religion. So if you are Catholic it’s a must see but if you aren’t it still is, because the Vatican has amazing things to see and reflect upon. The Vatican became its own state in 1929 with the Signing of the Lateran Treaty. The Vatican has 11 museums, the number one thing to see Michelangelo’s Sistine chapel and Vatican Gardens which is a collocation of large and small gardens.    Any of the 11 museums in the Vatican will cost you €18.  (info founded at http://www.rome.info/museums/vatican/ )

Whats happened

I'm reading a nonfiction book called “in the garden of the beasts" by Erik Larson

This book takes place during the 1930's so far. The two views we read threw are the views of William E. Dodd, the ambassador of the United States to Germany. He brings his family with including his daughter Martha. With these two different points of view you see different styles of narrative.

You read of how Martha describes people more vividly than Mr. Dodd on page 120 she describes Boris with "he had an unusual mouth and upper lips." it is an odd thing to notice in a person. While with Mr. Dodd you see more talk of character and less of their looks, you see this on page 158 which his when he meets Hitler. You get no discretion of his face but you get more of his character feel from his view.

Also in the way that they write their figures of speech you see different tones from the two main points of few.  In Martha’s writing she uses a lot more metaphors and similes, while Mr. Dodd who before becoming an ambassador was a collage professor favors more the Allison style. An example of this Allison would be on page 157 where Dodd is visiting Hitler and compares how the SS men raise their hands to “Caesar Style”.

The book so far has been very good. To me it has opened my eyes a little more to the lead up of world war two in Europe.

The election

The idea that today’s life has been changed by the 2014 elections is a normal; I mean its election year. But the problem is that with all these commercials and ad we find ourselves losing the candidates themselves and only the rumors of who they are.
This year we have to really big candidates running for president.  Are president now and democrat position is held by Barack Obama (https://www.google.com/#hl=en&sclient=psy-ab&q=obama&oq=oba&gs_l=serp.1.0.0l2j0i3j0.2912.13353.0.16155.16.9.7.0.0.0.329.1642.0j7j1j1.9.0.les%3B..0.0...1c.1.-SRMUOvX0uk&pbx=1&bav=on.2,or.r_gc.r_pw.r_qf.&fp=bf525e541b623bda&biw=1280&bih=620). While for the republican side you have Mitt Romney (https://www.google.com/#hl=en&sugexp=les%3B&gs_nf=1&tok=WzyPjbwsasAEkrBE-nOTAQ&pq=obama&cp=4&gs_id=2c&xhr=t&q=mitt+romney&pf=p&sclient=psy-ab&oq=mitt&gs_l=&pbx=1&bav=on.2,or.r_gc.r_pw.r_qf.&fp=bf525e541b623bda&biw=1280&bih=620). They are two very different guys and they both want to be president.  I want to look at their political idea and not just the bather they give us on TV and the news I want to really understand my president so whoever he may be I will know where he will stand. These next couple weeks I will be looking at some big issues and where they stand for sure.

The mystery of masks

Masks, offer a new mystery that you don't get much anywhere else. They are found around the word in religions, theaters or just on one day a year in October.   Masks have been found all over the world from the Chinese who used them to perform in theater or to prevent diseases. While in England they wore them sole for theater or for pagan rituals.  (http://www.ehow.com/about_5398612_history-cultural-masks.html

Weddings

Well another weekend another wedding. This time I wasn't allowed to be at the wedding, no I watched from a far in the hotel room with a baby in hand.  Last weekend I was at another wedding which also was celebrating the gift of binding two different people and becoming husband and wife.
A wedding is a funny thing; more often it involves a church, a bride, and a groom. Sometimes it’s a little different like it may be a red dress than a white but weddings are deeply rooted in tradition. Some of these have become little more that tradition others are still as important as when the couple says "I do".  One tradition that has lost is meaning is that while the all groom has to promise to be faithful, the bride must promise to take care of the home and be faith full. In today’s society that could be virtually impossible for the wife who is the one working while the husband stays at home.  Does this mean all the man has to do is sit at home and be faith full? I think not they have just switched roles for the time.
Now in America most weddings have white wedding dress, why is that?  Wearing a white wedding dress isn’t that old I found, only like 200 years old. It is mostly today thought of as a way to show purity, but in the early 20th century it was more to show wealth. Red wedding dresses are more found in china because they are a sign of good luck and wealth. (information found at http://tlc.howstuffworks.com/weddings/why-do-brides-wear-white-3.htm)
Weddings are also full of odd little things like why we have bridesmaids. People think it is an honor to be in a wedding party but you’re a bridesmaid you were originally picked to protect the bride from evil spirits.  Another thing to protect brides from evil spirits was the veil. (http://www.weddings.co.uk/info/tradsupe.htm#flowers)
Weddings are one of the few things that most of the population no matter what religion, you will attended. This is because more often or not the wedding is for someone you know. If we were to treat everyone like we treat people at a wedding would we solve world problems like war? I don’t think so mostly because we are human and forget easy that feeling we get when we see two people say “I do”.

Are we really that fat?

As I sit here munching on potato chips I ask a very important question. Are we really that fat?  Well the CDC says “more than one-third of U.S. adults (35.7%) are obese.” (Found at http://www.cdc.gov/obesity/data/adult.html.) now does this mean I’m fat. No, I’m not fat, I swim twice a day for about four hours a day, I can’t possible  obese, but at school on the second day of school I was told nonverbally that I am obese in that they took my food away. Now they didn’t just give me no food, no they gave me a tinny tiny portion of food and then two fruits that don’t look quite ripe.
Food to me is just food. No matter how much you eat, that means that if you chose to eat a lot or not It shouldn’t matter. Now it does, because if I want a good portion of food I have to buy two lunches which is about what I normally eat at home.  At high school a school lunch is about 2.50 to 3 dollars.(http://www.democraticunderground.com/discuss/duboard.php?az=view_all&address=389x5149925 )This is not cheap, more so if it doesn’t fill you up.
SO yes maybe we are fat here in America, but this doesn’t mean they can take away my food at school. To avoid this I have started pacing home lunch. This doesn’t help at all in that the lunch ladies are still cooking but they are wasting food because I’m not eating it. I feel that this is a reason that they should give us are food back, this is because if your obese then you can chose to eat less and exercise more thus they lose weight and I get my lunch.

Venice, Italy

Venice I want to do the things to see and place to eat. Now Venice’s most famous landmark is the canals of Venice, which are all over Venice because it is surrounded by water. Ca’Maccana is a mask shop which is right on a canal. I picked this place because a Italian mask looks so cool. They come in all shapes colors and ideas.   The mask would be great if you are in town for Venetian festival this is the place to go.  Another place to see would be the Teatro La Fenice, it and opera house and is one of the more famous ones of Italy. The Teatro La Fenice, has been burn down twice and restored both times.  If you love art in the form of statues I would say to go to the Santa Maria della Salute. It was designed by Baldassare longhena in 1631-83. The place has 125 statues and looks splined ( all landmarks where found at http://www.tripadvisor.com/Attraction_Review-g187870-d196474-Reviews-Santa_Maria_della_Salute-Venice_Veneto.html )

Food to eat in Venice will be Fish because they are by the sea. So the Al Muro fish market should be a big stop. It’s on a Saturday, and the food will be on the lower side of budget for food. You can get a lot of food for your Euro at this event.  Da Luca e Fred would be my next pick for its good pasta.  The Al Nono Risorto can be expensive in the food department but its pizzas are great and are cheap. They pile on fresh ingredients and it looks to die for. (http://www.guardian.co.uk/travel/2009/jan/21/cheap-restaurants-venice-food-italy0 )

If I ever get on to Italy, I would love to see Venice. The place is so up there on places to see because of the feeling of romance and magic in the city.  Just look at the amazing the mask place I mentioned earlier, it would be a place I would love to see because masks amaze me. They just speak of mystery and of unknown dances and people. To follow this I would like to do one just on masks.

The bucket list

Bucket list

Well when you think about it what is a bucket lists. A bucket list is what you want to do before you die. Now if you don’t have one it isn’t the end of the world, but they do give you a way to have goals in life that can be completed.

1.)    Travel to Europe, I have wanted to travel to Europe for a while and its one of those places that is rich in culture and history.

2.)     Be in 3 places at once, you know how it’s you can never be in two places at once well I want to try for three.

3.)    Go to all 50 states, I’ve started on this already; I have been to 18 states already.

4.)    Ride in a hot air balloon, just love to think of drifting in a hot air balloon above the ground.

5.)    Write a novel, I would love to change the world and the way people look at it with a book.

6.)    Learn to do a backflip or front flip, it looks cool.

7.)    Watch a metro shower

8.)    Learn to surf

Labor day

Labor Day, when you think about it, all I knew was that my family and i got out of school and work. Why is that I asked myself? Now i have found out. Labor Day happens every first Monday of September, it was first celebrated in 1882. It was created to celebrate the workers and to give them a day of rest and to thank them for the contribution to the economy. This is a holiday that is feudal  which is why we have the day off of school. These are all thing we forget about even with other holidays like Halloween which was originality a pagan festival celebrating magic and spirits.     (http://www.timeanddate.com/holidays/us/) holidays have kind of lost there meaning, i say this because what use to be one of the little days you got together with your family has become very commercialized, meaning lost to gifts and candy.  This is why we need to stop and think nabout what we are celebrating on a holiday the true meaning of one thing or what the world is telling us to celebrate.

Food

We all have to eat, its a fact. now what we eat is another story. For years people have been cooking, and with this we have discovered different ways to cook. From Chinese to American food is a  diverse thing that is both old and new in the ways that people create and follow recipes. Food also reflects how we are as a person. you can be closed minded and never try any new food or open minded and love to try new kinds of food.
Food brings people together there are whole holidays and festivals that celebrate food. On September 30 its national Hot Mulled Cinder Day, While September 27 is national chocolate milk day, so don't forget to drink some chocolate milk the 27. (http://www.thenibble.com/fun/more/facts/holidays-september.asp)
We have a whole TV channel for food its called the Food network. Also its one of the better tv channels out there  it shows how to cook and where to go to get great food. Food network has a online bases where you can get recipes and also look at there shows. (http://www.foodnetwork.com/recipes-and-cooking/index.html) While looking i found that cupcake wars is one of the better shows.
Food and cooking go hand in hand. they give us a way to change the world like with feed my staving children( https://www.fmsc.org/donate) witch is a place where you can volunteer to pack meals which they send to starving kids. they have made a meal that down to a science can help feed children who are malnourished. this can save a life, just giving people food is something that is needed to be given.

Florence, Italy

Florence, Italy, the place where according to my Ap Euoprean history teacher, this is the place where the Renniances started. This is a city of old culture, with art and artcutucre by both Brunellischi and Michekango, just walking the streets will feel like you have escaped to another time. ( ideas based on reading http://www.visitflorence.com/florence-museums/)

Two hotels that looked amazing to stay at were the Relais Santa Croce by Baglioni Hotels and Grand Hotel Villa Cora (both found at Booking.com). the Grand Hotel Villa Cora is a 19th century building one mile from the center of Florence. The Grand Hotel Villa includes 46 rooms. While the Relais Santa Croce is a 18th century building, the building has 24 rooms and is a chain. It is located between Santa Croce Basilica and the cathedral.

Places to eat are very important so i found three great places to eat for lunch, dinner, and desert. we will start with lunch because it’s one of my favorite meals of the day. i would eat at Acqua al 2. Acqua is found at Via della Vigna Vecchia 40r, Florence, the cruise is very good and has a great train of follows who go there for the sampling of many foods. (to see more click here http://travel.nytimes.com/travel/guides/europe/italy/tuscany-and-umbria/florence/53841/acqua-al-2/restaurant-detail.html) Now for dinner i would say pizza is always a good choice so i would try Il Pizzaiuolo, it has a huge waiting list so get resvations early but the pizza is said to be amazing. For desert you got to have gelato a desert invented in Italy, to buy it i would say go to Badiani, this place even has its own local lore on how they got there recipes. Florence was one of the major Italian city-states back during the Italian Renascence. To see this all you have to do is look at the city itself. Two things to see in Florence would be Michelangelo marble David and Cathedral of Santa Maria del Fior, the dome of this cathedral was done by Brunelleschi is a architectural master piece.
